Sadie Frost's Love Potion No 9

It's all about potions this month what with Eat Your Heart Out and The Pretox Potion from Alibi sponsoring the cake shop and secondly Black Cherry Bakery were asked to make cupcakes for a charity fundraiser organised by Sadie Frost and sister Jade.

Love cupcakes are nice to do at another time other than Valentines so an obvious choice was chocolate with Rose petal frosting and strawberry with champagne frosting...yum yum.

Today in the kitchen it looked like a scene from Silence of the Lambs or CSI X Rated...3 kinds of blood in different bowls, splatters of blood on tea towels looking a little too reminiscent of arterial spray! Am now actually looking forward to next week I feel like I've been living in a slasher movie for the last month or so. A few pics of the crime scene.

Eat Your Heart Out & The Pretox Potion

Countdown begins for the world's first 18+ R Rated Cake Shop!! Black Cherry Bakery is excited to be involved with this awesome project taking place in Shoreditch over Hallowe'en.

A few weeks ago the organisers asked me to produce a cake for a promotional photoshoot for the shop. After dabbling with skulls, devil horns, worms, eyeballs and being heavily inspired by the work of the Chapman brothers (especially HELL) The Heart and Maggot cake was born. It actually took shape by itself almost as I didn't know which was it was going until it was finished! Highly stressful and I normally like to work with much more of a definite design.
